Police seek Amalinda resident
By Matt Ramsden
Crime Reporter
EAST LONDON -- Police are appealing for an Amalinda man -- who they think may
know the whereabouts of two missing Clarendon High School girls -- to come
forward. Detective Sergeant Donni Smith of the indecent crime unit said police
urgently wanted to speak to Shane Langley, also known as Caspian Carter. It is
thought that Langley may be able to shed light on the location of Jayne Reeves,
16, of Beacon Bay, and Erika Wertlen, 15, of Bonnie Doon. The two girls are
believed to have run away early last Saturday. Smith said they may be in Gauteng
or KwaZulu-Natal. Anyone with information should call the detective on 29718
during the day and 10111 after hours.
Private eye called in to locate teenagers
EAST LONDON -- Specialist private investigators from the Vincent-based Corporate
Investigation Services (CIS) have been hired to help track down two run-away
Clarendon High School pupils. The firm was called in to find Jayne Reeves, 16,
of Beacon Bay and Erika Wertlen, 15, of Bonnie Doon, who disappeared on March 6.
Indecent crime unit detectives were notified, and last week appealed for
information on the whereabouts of Amalinda resident Shane Langley. Langley, who
is also known as Caspian Carter, is believed to be able to shed light on the
location of the two teenagers. It was probable that they headed for the
Johannesburg area, or for somewhere in KwaZulu-Natal. Yesterday afternoon
Jayne's mother, Mrs Bev Reeves, said there had been no word from the children
and she was desperate to make contact. CIS director Christian Botha, believed to
be hot on the trail yesterday, was unavailable for comment, but at the weekend
he confirmed his company's involvement in the case. The firm hit the headlines
last month when it bust a West African fake currency scam here. -- DDR
