Vincent man wants two grandsons back
EAST LONDON: A Vincent man has appealed for the safe return of
his two grandsons -- a week after his step-daughter "disappeared" with
them in contravention of a court order. Mr Louis du Preez said
22-year-old Mrs Louise "Joyce" du Preez left the family home early last
Tuesday evening with Lewis "Macgyver", 3, and Grens Pre-Primary pupil
Dewald, 5. The mother, who is married to Du Preez' son Ronald, 26, is
said to have left home on six previous occasions. Du Preez said his son
had obtained a court order in January which ordered that the children
should be under his supervision or someone nominated by him at all
times. Mrs Du Preez apparently told friends she had "met" a man on the
Internet and was running away to Johannesburg to live with him. The
44-year-old secu-rity firm owner alleged she stole a R5800 camera, a
R900 cellphone and a R4000 computer. A
case
of theft and two missing person cases have been opened at the Cambridge
police station. On Sunday evening the family received a call from the
missing woman, who told them the children were all right. Du Preez said
there was a man's voice in the background and the family thinks she and
the children are still in East London. He appealed for anyone with
information about his grandsons' whereabouts to contact the police or
himself on (043) 727-0674.
Missing Vincent boys, mom found
EAST
LONDON: A Vincent woman who "disappeared" last week with her two
children was found in Gauteng on Wednesday, police said yesterday.
Louise "Joyce" du Preez, 22, left the family home with her sons Lewis
"Macgyver," three, and Dewald, five. Du Preez's stepfather, Louis du
Preez, told the Daily Dispatch that by order of the court the two boys
are to be in the supervision of their father at all times. Louis Du
Preez circulated details of the missing family members to media around
the country after it was revealed she had told friends about a man in
Johannesburg she had met over the Internet. On Wednesday morning he
hired Arcadia-based private investigator Christian Botha who hit the
headlines early this year when he found two Clarendon High School girls
who had run away to Cape Town. Within 90 minutes, Botha had located the
woman and children in Randburg where they were staying with an
unidentified man. Botha said he had handed over the information to Du
Preez who had placed it in the hands of his legal representative and a
plan was made to fly the children back to East London last night.
